Hello to everyone,
This is my latest short story.
I would like to say thanks to all my friends who helped me complete my short story! :)
As the sun began to set after another day, Jesse and Melanie’s mother was calling for them to come inside.
“Jesse, Melanie, come in now! It’s getting dark,” shouted their mother.
As usual the two children stayed outside a little longer. Just as their mother started to call again, the two children found what most people would consider, an expensive necklace. They did not know if they should leave it or take it.
“Let’s take it,” whispered Jesse, “We won’t tell anyone.”
Melanie agreed. As they walked towards their angry mother, Melanie could not help herself but to tell her what they had found.
“That’s pretty, isn’t it?” said their mother who was still a little angry, “Why don’t you wear it sweetie? Let me help you.”
As Mrs Walker helped put the necklace on her daughter, Melanie felt a feeling she had never felt before. It only lasted a few seconds, so she didn’t pay any attention to it.
The next day, they decided to go to the beach.
“You’re not going to play at the beach today in this weather,” Mrs Walker said sadly. “It’s too cold and windy for playing.”
Without complaining, Jesse and Melanie walked back to their house. Disappointed about not being able to play at the beach, they looked at the marvellous piece of jewellery they had found the day earlier. They put their ear, right up close to the necklace. It was as if they could faintly hear the sound of the waves.
The two children decided to go to bed early that night. Strangely, they had the same dream…
It was about the beautiful Sea Princess, who lived deep down in the sea. One day, the princess lost her favourite necklace. The princess searched everywhere, high and low, but she could not find it anywhere! She even had all the sea creatures helping her look for it! Her necklace was so special to her because it was the key to all the earth’s water. Without it, there would be no water left. The princess had to retrieve it at once, or all would be lost. At that moment, the dream ended.
Strangely, both children continued to have the same dream. Over and over again. The dream continued to become clearer and clearer as they saw it again and again.
After a few weeks, they had finally figured out that it was a message from the Sea Princess and that the right thing to do was to return the necklace. After all, it was the property of the Sea Princess.
The day had finally come to return the necklace to its rightful owner. Jesse and Melanie were still unsure about returning it, but they knew it was the right thing to do.
As they slowly walked down to the shallow waters of the beach, they stopped.
“We are doing the right thing, aren’t we?” asked Jesse hesitantly.
“Sure we are. Don’t doubt me. I know a sign when I see one,” replied Melanie.
“Okay, but we should make it special. Let’s dive down as deep as we can and place it on the ocean floor,” exclaimed Jesse excitedly.
So the two children, dived deep into the ocean, and placed it neatly in the sand. As they could almost see the faint top of the surface, there was a slight whisper…
“Thank you so much for returning my necklace, you do not now how much it means to me!”
